Solid waste options

I have finally got all the information about the solid waste. I.E. Trash. Listed below are the three best quotes. What we have learned is that we can select whatever company we choose. These are not any order.

1. Handy Trash Service:
1 Toter for trash, pickup weekly (Wednesday), Recycle every other week NO Recycle Toter, NO yard waste.
Cost 17.50/ mo or 52.50 qrtly

2. Waste Industries:
1 Toter for trash pickup weekly (Friday), Recycle every other week with a smaller Toter, NO yard waste.
Cost 18.50/ mo or 53.50 qrtly
Call Roger 336-668-3712

3. Republic Waste:
1 - 96gal Toter for trash pickup weekly (Tuesday), Recycle every other week with NO Toter, Yard waste once a month.
cost 15.57/mo billed Quarterly@ 46.71 (NO $10.00 setup fee)
Call customer service at 336-299-0815 (mention you are in the annexed / now un-annexed area to get this rate.) also we will each be billed and there is no long term contract. However we have to re-apply either over the phone or sending in the attached form.

Would suggest you decide and call soon so they will have time to get your Toter out to you, as you may know the City of Greensboro will be picking up their Toters anytime after Friday March 12th.

TRASH Service

We are looking into other trash providers (solid waste). The law and rule in Guilford county is that you can have anyone that you want to pick up your trash. Once there (in the 1970's) there was one company that had a franchise for the whole county, but no longer is what i have been told. The committee is contacting several companies to see if anyone will give us an over-all better rates and service. I know that Republic handed out noticed today to every home. check here for more information. very soon

The city has said they will provide trash service until March 12th. so don't feel rushed to make a decision.

We did it!! We actually won the Summary Judgement!
This was the FINAL step at the lower court level. Can you Say GOOD BY GREENSBORO

The Judge listened to our case and the city's defense and ruled in our favor. Our motion was that the city ordinance that annexed us was Null and Void. The city has the right and can appeal to the higher court, however the higher court has already ruled on the main point of our case. (They ruled in our favor)
I don't have all the answers yet to all the questions. that is what this blog is for. maybe a faster way to get information out to you all.

Well, what a interesting city council meeting tonight. Thanks for the neighbors that came out and endured the bickering. I think all you needed to do was listen to the speakers, the presentations, and the discussion. Unfortunately the city council did not even listen to their own city employees "when the employees asked not to annex any more area until they can provide the services." So the city council voted to annex our area. :( The fight is not totally over, more to come soon!!
Also i am looking to form a group that will watch the city on providing the services, so anyone interested let me know.
Thank you for your help through out this journey, I feel the team saved every homeowner 1,000's of dollars. Now the challenge is to get what we pay for.
